Encounter

하얀 캔버스 위에 이미지를 그리기 시작한다. 구체적인 계획없이 즉흥적으로 시작하는 경우가 대부분이다. 그렇게 떠오른 이미지를 가만히 바라보면 이 다음에 그려질 것들이 결정된다. 새로운 이미지가 그려지기도 하고 그려진 것을 수정하거나 지우기도 한다. 이처럼 그림 그리기는 나와 캔버스의 끝없는 마주침 속에서 일어난 사건들이다. 그림은 예측할 수 없는 불확실성, 우연성과 함께 생겨나고 사라지길 반복하며 어느새 복잡하고도 해석 할 수 없는 시공간 속에 도달해 있다. 그 곳은 내가 가보지 못한, 그리고 언제나 만나고 싶었던 새로움의 세계이다.

Encounter

I start to draw an image on the white canvas. In most cases, I draw something spontaneously. I decide next steps with looking at drawn images. New images are generated, the images that drawn are modified or erased. I would say that painting is an event that happened in the endless encounter between me and the canvas. Painting is journey to go where I have never been before. There is a new world that I have always wanted to meet.
