제로 페인팅

제로페인팅(Zero painting)의 제로는 ‘지금 이 순간’ 을 말한다. ‘지금 이 순간’ 의 그림은 시작에서 끝으로 도달한 완결된 표면이 아닌 지금 이 순간에도 지속되고 있는 시작과 끝 사이의 어떤 지점이다. 그러므로 제로 페인팅은 완성이 아닌 과정으로 존재한다. 그리고 이 과정의 순간 또한 완성으로 고착될 수 밖에 없는 역설은 물리적 해체와 변형을 통해 다시 과정 속으로 포섭된다.

Zero in Zero painting refers to ‘this moment.’ The painting of ‘this moment’ is not a completed surface that has been reached from the beginning to the end, but a certain point between the beginning and the end that continues at this very moment. Therefore, zero painting exists as a process, not a completion. And the paradox that can only be fixed at the moment of this process as completion is again included in the process through physical disintegration and transformation.
